Why I am not a fan of TLC's Extreme Couponing

Yes, I have watched the show. I've actually watched the entire first season. I will not be tuning in for the second season.

In the first season there was only one person I can remember who committed no coupon fraud and was also courteous to other shoppers, even going out of her way to help them get good deals on the items they were purchasing.

The majority of the people on the show committed fraud of varying degrees. Everything from purchasing coupons in bulk online, to intentionally misusing them on incorrect products was featured at one time or another. The online couponing world was not pleased. This fraud was pointed out to TLC and they released a statement saying they would investigate and be more careful about it their next season.

Recently they've released a preview of this second season. Apparently, since they can't portray fraud any more, they've decided to glorify bad behavior in other ways. This entire clip is about a woman who is a self-admitted shelf clearer. She even goes so far as to laugh at someone who gets there just moments after she did and finds her taking all of a product for herself. Meanwhile she has $10,000 worth of stockpile taking up a spare bedroom in her house.

Folks, this is not a good way to behave. If your couponing causes you to behave this way, you're doing it wrong. And you're giving the rest of us a bad name.
